In 1961 President John F Kennedy delivered this address to the people (below). Campaigning for a free and independent press is nothing new it seems.
He is asking for a free and independent press without political and personal bias, without corporate influence and one in which the highest standards of journalism are upheld so that the press serves the public interest and not the interests of a tiny elite.
So as we all know JFK was assassinated soon after and it appears that his ideals for the press went with him. Nearly everything he is rallying against has come to pass which is more than a little depressing.
Is crowdfunding part of a solution? Find out soon enough on http://patcm2015.blogspot.co.uk/ !
